History
and origins of nursery rhyme
The history and origins of the lyrics to this English nursery rhyme date back to the reign
of Elizabeth I, one of the Tudor monarchs. During this period
of English history there was constant rivalry with Spain
culminating in the Spanish Armada consisting of many Spanish
galleons being sent to attack England. This attempt failed, not
only because of the swift nature of the smaller English ships but
also by the stormy weather which scattered the Armada fleet. Hence
the origins of the Nursery rhyme! |
